The two most fit and “ripped” men I knew died suddenly after rowing workouts in their late forties and early fifties. From their muscles I imagine their workouts were long and intense. My parents lived long and active lives until their 80s when Covid lockdown inactivity and their gym closing eventually led to loss of strength and devastating falls. Your way of consistency and restraint is inspiring, thank you for the (counter)brainwashing!
Thank you for your story. Sorry about your parents, it makes me sad that that people dont' know how to take care of their bodies without the gym, which is easy and accessible to everyone. As you know, I don't go to the gym or use weights.
I ended my gym membership a few days ago. The reason I joined was because they had an indoor pool, and I thought well wouldn't it be nice to be able to swim even during the winter? But I didn't feel like swimming often enough to justify the cost, and I was never interested in any of the other equipment there.
They don't sell single tickets like a regular pool? I must say that having an access to the pool is nice. Mine sells me single tickets, half price for the town's residents. Can I be nosy and ask how much the gym membership with a pool costs? Was it a nice pool? 25 metres?
Yes, it is a nice pool, junior Olympic size. I think that's 25m long, with 6 lanes. It was $37 a month, plus an initiation fee of $60 on the first month. There are public pools around town where I can buy single tickets, $6 for residents & $9 for nonresidents, but often it's crowded at the times I can go, and they close rather early at 7pm.

Doing too much too soon is what gave me knee tendonitis. Improvement has been steady, but annoyingly slow.
Tendonitis is most annoying. It takes such patience to nurse back to health.
