“No Pain No Gain”? Nah. At best, it's pointless. At worst, it sets you up for injury, burnout, or both.
The pain you're feeling might not be “growth”—it might be tendonitis. And no, you shouldn’t be powering through it. You can tear things. I did. When I was in my 20s and even into my 30s, I bought into the hype. Big time. I have the injuries to prove it. But no more.
You don’t need to wake up sore just to prove something’s working. Real progress doesn’t have to feel like you've been hit by a truck. You can get results without hobbling around or wondering if you messed something up. Change happens without pain being the measuring stick.
You don’t need to punish yourself in the gym.
There’s a smarter way.
I call it the DSY principle. If you’ve seen my videos on YouTube, you already know what that means. If not: it stands for Don’t Shit Yourself. Yes, really. It’s my guiding principle for how I train—and live. No more “go hard or go home.” I train in a way that actually makes you feel better, move smoother, and stay younger—not just in how you look, but in how you live.
It’s simple. Not effortless. But definitely easier than the pain they’ve been selling you.
If you’ve got 10–15 minutes a day, you can be fit. Isometrics for strength like Bruce Lee did—done in under 5 minutes. Slow jogging for stamina, short sprints for energy, and flexibility work to keep everything moving. Oh, and the rarest ingredient in the fitness world today: sanity.
So if you like to suffer—fine. Masochism is a valid and wonderful life choice... I guess... 🙄
But let’s be clear: it’s a choice. You don’t need to suffer. And if you do, please don’t drag anyone else down the fitness hell with you.
Well said!
