I always wondered how Dr Mosley died..made no sense…he was always so sensible and gave great advice on how to look after yourself 🤔
I don't know how many times in my life I have physical felt great, pushed it further and got injured for weeks or months.
Love your material and really like your take on fitness. I was previously of the mindset in sports or exercise that unless I push myself to the limit there is no point.
Out of interest have you ever heard of. feldenkreis? Have found it a great way of calming the nervous system on top of radiotiso
It's very difficult to step outside the current "push yourself" paradigm, the only pushing I do on myself, is to do Radio Taiso. Then it gets easier from there.
I heard or feldenkreis, but was assuming it's some sort of therapy that you pay a lot of money to have? How can you do it after radio taiso? I'd love to find out more.
Hi Pawel. This is Brad (your biggest “hate” fan. I hope you remember that reference. I have had an experience that has really enlightened me as to EXACTLY what you are talking about. I have followed your fitness suggestions for quite some time. I slow jog almost every day… in the winter (in Oregon) I have to do it inside on the treadmill. No problem. I started mixing in some full-out sprints for 20-30 seconds. Really enjoyed it. On the day in question… I thought I could take it a bit farther (and faster). I felt it! My knee suddenly hurt. I stopped and got off the treadmill and went out to the golf course (my biggest passion). Played a few holes… and then I realized my knee was really starting to hurt. I decided to walk in. On my way back to the club house POP!!!! I heard it and felt it!! My knee!! Popped in a bit way. I could barely take steps.
Much better now. Functional… however I have a torn meniscus… and will require surgery.
Lesson learned. I need to be satisfied with where I am and not push to go farther. You are right! Again! Consistency beats intensity! And now I am missing some of the things I really enjoyed.
I’ll report back after my surgery… and back on track.
Who could forget his biggest "hate" fan? Of course I remember!
And I'm so sorry you got yourself into a bit of a pickle with your knee. I'm so sorry you're learning this hard way. You know, theys say that the safety rules for aviation (with all its checklists and procedures) are written in blood (beause they come from the experiences of previous ari crashes). So too is the DSY principle.
Please update here or email how your recovery will be. Fingers crossed it will be quick. But you know you'll have to take it easy and not rush it, right? I made my friend sign a written oath to that effect after he did something stupid, like you (yet again). He and I hve copies, I remind him about it once in a while. :D
Great post.

You. Are. Right. Brad.

By the way… I believe the “hate fan” issue was a result of me typing in “huge fan” and somehow it “autocorrected” (a likely typo) to “hate fan”…
